What is your photography style? I focus on the natural interactions of the clients. Some call it a journalism approach. I go for fun, unique, fresh with some traditional posed photos as well
What is the typical wait time for photos? You get 10 teasers online within 24 hours of the session. 2 weeks from the shoot you get to see some more online viewing on a password protected page and 4-6 weeks from the shoot you should receive the CD (and prints)
What kind of camera do you shoot with? I shoot with a Canon 60D with 2 lens and an external flash. I'm always excited to add more as I go along. I also accumulate numerous equipment that allows us to work better with light and your photos unique.
What if I’m going to be late for the session? Let me know ASAP! This counts as part of your session time. If you are 1 hour late: there will be a late fee of $30. If you are 1.5-2 hours late: cancellation or reschedule with an additional fee on top of your session. 1st reschedule is no cost but the 2nd has a $75 fee as it’s a loss for the photographer.
How long are the sessions (excluding wedding and other events)? Typically they range from 1-3 hours. It just depends on the client. Factors that can affect this are: fussy baby, weather conflicts, losing light, etc. Clients usually feel “done” after that.
What style of editing do you do? Typically, I focus on enhancing natural light, clients, etc. rather than editing. Simple smoothing of the skin and hair for example. I also do B&W and sepia tones. I can do a lomo effect and selective color upon request.
Do you have an assistant? Yes! My wonderful boyfriend who is very helpful in setting up, posing and entertaining clients. (Getting babies/kids to smile, and watching the pets when they aren't in the photos)
What should we wear? Well what are your favorite outfits? It can depend on the location too. Ideally, NO busy patterns and logos (text) of any kind on the clothing; they are distracting. Darker colors for colder weather and lighter colors for warmer weather are preferred. You can match as a family or mismatch in a way that compliments each other. Think comfy, simple and layers. I prefer clients to pick more than one outfit (example: casual and formal). For engagement photos, couples can aim for their wedding colors too. Always double check with me before the shoot! Should I bring props? Again, depends on the shoot. Here are some basic prop ideas to start with. It is also always a good idea to bring:
Water to drink.
Maternity & Baby: baby blanket, fav. Toys, diaper bag, extra bottle, anything significant to the child/family.
Pets: their favorite toys (2 max), a scarf for them to wear, some treats, water, leash , and doggie bag
Family: blanket, extra clothes, anything significant to the family.
Senior: any school activities you played/participated in, extra clothes, hobby, anything significant to you.
Engagement: blanket, ring, anything significant
I also have a variety of props such as: frame, “ I DO” letters, other letter for initials, etc.
Do you have a back up photographer? Yes! My very good friend MacKenzie Carullo. Here is her website: www.mackenziecarullo.com
